Twins – Cleveland Series

Will Liriano do well on Friday night? How spiffy is the first DQ cap of the season? Will we miss Dick & Bert for Saturday’s game which airs on FOX? You bet we will. And oh yeah, we’re playing the team whose name I never say, they’re just “Cleveland” and that is that.

I didn’t think I’d watch this game live, especially given how the last couple games went, but I guess I’ve been watching. I’ve been reading the liveblog over at Pulling A Blyleven and commenting a bit there and in the series/game thread. But I finally couldn’t take it anymore, especially without Kevin here. I can’t make snarky comments to him, so I’ll post ‘em here.

So this isn’t really live, it’s the sixth inning as I write this, I’ll jot down some notes re previous innings in no particular order and then resume liveblogging (more or less).

The title of this post is a tribute to the incredibly boring interview with Scott Erickson during the game. He’s financed a “family movie” and he and his wife talked about it for one half inning, then Scott got to talk for another painfully long half-inning. I mean, it was great with the Twins scoring and all, but boy is Scott Erickson boring. Who knew? I sure didn’t.

The movie he financed is A Plumm Summer and this is the description at the IMDB:

Set in Montana in 1968, two young brothers from a distressed home go head-to-head with the FBI to crack the kidnapping case of the beloved TV puppet, Froggy Doo.

It may very well be a charming family film, but he talked so long and so boringly about it that I just keep saying “FROG PUPPET” and giggling. Well, in my head.

Twins – Rays Series

Yet another two-game series– I think I kinda hate these. Delmon faces his old team. Will he and Carl Crawford throw down? Guess we’ll have to tune in to find out.

Kevin and I will be at the game on Thursday in our Upper Box seats.

Comments away . . . or not.

That was different

Let me get this straight: the Twins hit the ball a lot and scored runs as a result, our starting pitchers did their jobs, and it was the bullpen that cost us those two games in Detroit?

Gah!

So different. And confusing. My head hurts.

Also: I hope this is not our fault for being so gleeful about the Tigers doing so poorly this season (’til now, apparently). ‘Cause until now Kevin and I were prone to giggling like schoolgirls whenever the Tigers were mentioned.

Torii on Real Sports Tonight

Torii Hunter will be profiled tonight on a new episode of REAL Sports with Bryant Gumbel, it debuts at 9 p.m. central time on HBO. There are usually additional airings during the week on various HBO stations (check the listings).

Here’s what HBO says about the episode:

Sen. Barack Obama talks about his love of basketball; a profile on Los Angeles Angels outfielder Torii Hunter; a report on the death of minor-league baseball coach Mike Coolbaugh; and an update on the story of former basketball standout Lee Benson Jr.

This episode is, of course, mentioned in my TV Picks for today.
