Vote for Joe and Justin!

Don’t forget to place your vote online (up to 25 times) for the 2008 MLB All-Star Game as Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau are each second at their positions as I type this and could use your votes.

It’s a good activity to do while watching games on TV if you have a computer you can access while doing that.

I also vote for Luis Castillo and even sometimes Cristian Guzman on the NL side of the ballot– I’m wacky like that. I think Kevin has been known to vote for an AL outfield of Gomez, Torii Hunter, and . . . wait, for it . . . Jacque Jones. He’s, um, goofy. (Kevin that is, not Jacque as far as I know. Hey– where is Jacque? I didn’t hear what happened after he was designated for assignment.)

Coping with the Sucking Time

I’ve not said much of late, nor read much, and I even sorta forgot to update the “Upcoming Games” doohickey in the sidebar– sorry about that. ‘Cause, really, what is there to say?

Well, I could point out that Scott Baker had a pretty darn great outing the other day and that Nick Blackburn wasn’t so shabby either yesterday. Um. Joe Mauer is nifty (and if you haven’t yet voted for him for the All-Star Game online, you should do so).

I called out Cuddy and he got better . . . some of the time.

I’m a die hard fan and even I have turned off games or basically ignored them when on.

What’s a fan to do?

Well tonight, when the game took a serious turn for the worse, I queued up my recording of the Wednesday night game on my TiVo since I’d only seen part of it and wasn’t really paying much attention to the rest– way better to watch that game tonight than this one. I suggested to Kevin that we pretend that game was tonight’s and go for two wins in a row! Which probably breaks some rules of the time-space continuum.

Thanks to a “season pass” on the TiVo for “Twins Classics” on FSN North, we do have some good games to turn to as palette cleansers or to remind us of better days: the game where Johan struck out 17, Scott Baker’s almost-perfect game, “Twins Rout the White Sox” (always fun), and so on. Plus I’ve never been able to delete the game from when the Twins clinched the division title on the last day of the season (and Joe-Ma won the batting title and they watched the Tigers game from the dugout). I think I still have Go-Go hitting for the cycle on there too. Guess I’ve been stockpiling the good stuff in case of a baseball emergency.

We really need Corey Koskie to beat up a chair or something right now.

If you don’t have recordings of better games on-hand, you can always rent or buy or borrow the 1987 World Series on DVD. Or track down the “Berenguer Boogie” video if you need a laugh.

Questioning authority.

My mother has made a rule that my dad can only complain about one starter and one reliever from the Twins’ pitching staff at any time.

One begins to wonder whether this is perhaps misguided.
